Job Description

Join Teleperformance as a Healthcare Support Specialist with a focus on Medical Billing, working 100% remotely from Kansas City, MO. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive support to patients and healthcare providers, addressing inquiries related to medical billing, insurance claims, and payment processing. You will be responsible for explaining complex billing statements, resolving discrepancies, and guiding callers through the healthcare payment landscape. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a foundational understanding of medical billing practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle inbound and outbound calls to resolve patient and provider inquiries regarding medical bills and insurance claims.
  • Accurately explain Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and medical billing statements to patients.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, working with insurance companies and healthcare facilities as needed.
  • Process payments, set up payment plans, and assist with financial aid applications.
  • Document all interactions and resolutions thoroughly and accurately in the system.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and company privacy policies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to escalate and resolve complex issues.
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and professionalism in all interactions.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 6 months of experience in customer service, call center, or healthcare administration.
  • Basic understanding of medical billing terminology, processes, and insurance concepts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in navigating computer systems and basic office software.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience specifically in medical billing, coding, or healthcare collections.
  • Familiarity with various Electronic Health Record (EHR) and billing software.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., Healthcare Administration, Medical Office Management).
  • Certification in medical billing or coding (e.g., CPC, CCS-P).
