Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and reliable Plasterer Offsider to join our construction team in Chelmsford, Essex. This full-time, Monday to Friday role is fast-paced and requires a proactive individual ready to support our experienced plasterers on various residential development sites. You will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient progress of plastering works, from preparing materials to maintaining a clean and safe working environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone keen to build a career in the construction industry and learn valuable trade skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist plasterers with the preparation of surfaces, including cleaning, dampening, and applying primers.
  • Mix plaster, render, and other materials to the correct consistency as instructed.
  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring tools are cleaned and stored properly.
  • Support the plasterers by holding boards, fetching tools, and performing general labouring tasks.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies on-site.
  • Report any site issues or hazards to the site supervisor promptly.
  • Assist with the setup and dismantling of scaffolding or work platforms as required.
  • Perform general site duties as directed by the site manager or plastering team leader.

Required Skills

  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour, including lifting heavy materials.
  • Strong work ethic and a proactive, 'can-do' attitude.
  • Reliability and punctuality, with a commitment to working Monday to Friday.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety practices on a construction site.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills in plastering and general construction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working on a construction site or in a similar labouring role.
  • CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
  • Full UK driving license and access to reliable transportation.
