Job Description
As a Seasonal Ground Delivery Helper, you will play a crucial role in our peak season operations, assisting FedEx Ground drivers with package delivery and pickup. This temporary position offers a fantastic opportunity to earn extra cash, stay active, and be an integral part of ensuring timely deliveries during our busiest time of year in the Austin, Texas area. You will work alongside a driver, navigating routes and handling packages efficiently and safely, contributing directly to our mission of delivering exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist FedEx Ground drivers with the timely and accurate delivery and pickup of packages.
- Handle packages safely and efficiently, ensuring proper scanning and placement in designated areas.
- Organize packages within the delivery vehicle to optimize delivery routes and efficiency.
- Provide excellent customer service during interactions with recipients, representing the FedEx brand positively.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies to ensure a secure working environment.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment, adapting to varying conditions.
- Communicate effectively with drivers and supervisors regarding route progress and any issues encountered.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 75 lbs (with assistance for heavier items).
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage package flow.
- Ability to follow directions accurately and work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential for operational success.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a delivery, warehouse, or other physically demanding role.
- Familiarity with the Austin, Texas area geography and traffic patterns.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
