Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Community Safety Officer focused on Corporate Governance to join our Trust & Safety team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in upholding Pinterest’s community guidelines, policies, and regulatory compliance standards, specifically within the realm of corporate governance. You will work to identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to platform misuse, policy violations, and evolving legal requirements, ensuring that Pinterest remains a safe and trusted environment for its global user base. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of content moderation, regulatory frameworks, and excellent analytical skills to contribute to the strategic development and implementation of our safety programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and enforce community safety policies and procedures aligned with corporate governance principles and legal requirements.
- Monitor user-generated content and platform activity to identify and address violations of community guidelines and corporate policies.
- Conduct thorough investigations into complex safety incidents, policy breaches, and potential legal compliance issues.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, public policy, product, and engineering teams to integrate safety best practices into product development and operational workflows.
- Analyze trends in platform abuse and policy violations, providing data-driven insights to inform policy updates and safety tool enhancements.
- Prepare reports and presentations on community safety performance, risk assessments, and compliance efforts for internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Stay abreast of evolving industry best practices, regulatory changes, and legal precedents related to online safety, content moderation, and corporate responsibility.
- Participate in the development and delivery of training programs for content moderators and internal teams on corporate governance and safety policies.
- Respond to complex user inquiries and escalations related to safety and policy enforcement.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of Pinterest's global Trust & Safety initiatives.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in online trust & safety, content moderation, corporate governance, legal compliance, or a similar field within a technology company.
- Demonstrated understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks related to online content, user safety, and corporate responsibility (e.g., CDA 230, GDPR, DSA).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify complex issues and propose effective solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex policy and legal concepts clearly.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools to track and present safety metrics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Juris Doctor (JD).
- Experience working with international teams and understanding diverse cultural perspectives on online safety.
- Familiarity with visual content platforms and their unique safety challenges.
- Project management experience in implementing safety-related initiatives.
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to Pinterest's global user base.
