Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Machinist / Programmer to join our dynamic manufacturing team in Oshawa, Ontario. Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machining centers (mills and lathes) with minimal supervision.
- Develop and optimize CNC programs using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM) or G-code to produce complex parts.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining operations and sequences.
- Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and cutting parameters for various materials and part geometries.
- Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, CMM).
- Monitor machine performance, identify potential issues, and perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal operation.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize manufacturing processes and resolve technical challenges.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a CNC Machinist/Programmer in a production environment.
- Proficiency in setting up, operating, and programming multi-axis CNC milling and/or turning machines.
- Strong knowledge of G-code and M-code programming.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Experience with various metals and alloys (e.g., steel, aluminum, stainless steel).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a relevant college diploma or trade certification (e.g., Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), Machinist).
- Experience with Mastercam, Siemens NX, or similar CAM software.
- Prior experience in the automotive manufacturing sector.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Experience operating CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) for quality control.
