Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Traffic Sign Installation Laborer to join our outdoor council team in Houston, TX. This role is crucial for ensuring public safety and efficient traffic flow by correctly installing and maintaining traffic signs. The ideal candidate will be committed to safety, possess a strong work ethic, and be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. This is a hands-on position involving physical labor, teamwork, and the operation of various tools and equipment to support our infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, repair, and removal of traffic signs, posts, and related hardware.
- Dig holes for sign posts using hand tools and power equipment.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment from vehicles.
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Perform general labor duties as assigned, including site cleanup and material handling.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, regulations, and company policies.
- Work collaboratively with team members to complete projects efficiently.
- Assist with traffic control setup and breakdown at work sites.
- Maintain and care for tools and equipment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, including lifting, bending, digging, and standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding and ability to use hand tools (shovels, wrenches, hammers).
- Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Prior experience in construction, landscaping, or a similar outdoor labor role.
- Experience operating small power tools or light construction equipment.
- Valid Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- OSHA 10 or 30-hour construction certification.
- Ability to read and interpret basic work orders or diagrams.
