Job Description

Baptist Health Lexington is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as an In-Home Patient Care Assistant. This unique role offers a structured career path, providing you with the training and support necessary to pursue a nursing career. As an In-Home Patient Care Assistant, you will provide essential care and companionship to patients in their homes, promoting their independence and well-being. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with little to no prior experience who are committed to making a difference and aspire to become a Registered Nurse.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Monitor and record vital signs, reporting any significant changes to the nursing staff.
- Provide light housekeeping tasks and assist with meal preparation as needed.
- Administer prescribed medications under direct supervision and document accurately.
- Offer companionship and emotional support to patients, fostering a positive and comfortable environment.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, using appropriate safety techniques and equipment.
- Maintain clear and concise documentation of patient care activities and observations.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong empathy and compassion for patients
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
- Basic computer literacy for documentation
- Physical ability to assist with patient mobility and light tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a caregiving role (personal or professional)
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Enrollment or interest in a nursing program
