Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and disciplined individual to join our team as a Trainee Port Security Officer at our government facility in Sept-Îles. This entry-level position is ideal for candidates eager to start a career in maritime security, offering comprehensive training and development. You will work under the guidance of experienced security personnel, learning the protocols and procedures necessary to ensure the safety and security of the port, its infrastructure, and all users. This role involves active participation in surveillance, access control, emergency response, and adherence to regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and apply port security plans, procedures, and regulations.
- Assist in monitoring security cameras and other surveillance equipment.
- Conduct patrols of port facilities, perimeters, and restricted areas.
- Manage access control points, verifying identification and authorization for individuals and vehicles.
- Respond to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies in accordance with established protocols.
- Prepare accurate and detailed incident reports and daily logs.
- Support emergency preparedness and response drills.
- Collaborate with senior security officers, law enforcement, and other port stakeholders.
- Maintain a high level of situational awareness and report suspicious activities.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new security technologies and procedures.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and perform duties in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid security clearance and relevant certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a security-related field (e.g., security guard, military, law enforcement) is a plus, but not required.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid driver's license.
- Bilingualism (French and English) is a significant asset.
