Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Microsoft Compliance Officer with a strong focus on regulatory compliance to join our dynamic team. This is a critical remote position responsible for ensuring Microsoft’s adherence to a complex landscape of global and regional regulatory requirements, particularly those impacting our software, cloud services, and data handling. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs, conducting risk assessments, and providing expert guidance to internal stakeholders. This role requires an individual with a deep understanding of technology regulatory frameworks and a proactive approach to compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance programs tailored to specific regulatory requirements impacting Microsoft's products and services.
- Monitor changes in global and regional regulatory landscapes (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, SOX, industry-specific regulations) and assess their impact on Microsoft's operations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and compliance audits to identify potential vulnerabilities and ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to product development, legal, engineering, and business teams on compliance matters related to new and existing offerings.
- Collaborate with legal counsel to interpret complex regulations and translate them into actionable compliance strategies.
- Design and deliver compliance training and awareness programs for employees across various departments.
- Oversee the investigation and resolution of compliance-related incidents, ensuring timely and appropriate remediation actions.
- Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management, highlighting key risks, performance metrics, and strategic recommendations.
- Represent Microsoft in discussions with regulatory bodies, as needed.
- Foster a strong culture of compliance and ethics throughout the organization.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Compliance Officer or similar role, preferably within the technology sector or a highly regulated industry.
- In-depth knowledge of global data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and other relevant technology regulations.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing compliance challenges and frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, FedRAMP).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex regulatory concepts to non-experts.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, remote environment.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing compliance policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as CCEP, CIPP/E, CISM, or CRISC.
- Experience with Microsoft technologies and compliance tools.
- Previous experience interacting with regulatory bodies or external auditors.
- Master's degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
