Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and safety-focused Warehouse Marshall to join our dynamic team in Plymouth. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and safe flow of goods within our busy warehouse, coordinating picking activities, and maintaining a secure working environment. You will be a key player in upholding our high standards of operational efficiency and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control warehouse traffic, including MHE (Material Handling Equipment) and pedestrian movements, to prevent accidents.
- Coordinate and direct picking routes and activities to optimize efficiency and minimize delays.
- Conduct regular safety checks on equipment and work areas, identifying and reporting potential hazards.
- Ensure all safety regulations, company policies, and procedures are strictly adhered to by all warehouse personnel.
- Assist in the training and induction of new warehouse staff on safety practices and operational procedures.
- Manage the flow of goods to and from loading bays, ensuring proper documentation and secure handling.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and safety inspections.
- Provide clear and concise communication to warehouse operatives, supervisors, and management.
- Respond promptly to incidents or emergencies, following established protocols.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, ideally in a supervisory or marshalling role.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
- Keen attention to detail and strong observational skills.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and communication.
- Ability to direct and coordinate teams effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid MHE (e.g., forklift, reach truck) license or certification.
- First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of inventory management systems.
- Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies in a warehouse setting.
