Job Description
MedStar Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Infusion Nurse (RN) to join our private clinic in Baltimore, Maryland. This is a full-time position offering flexible day shifts, providing you with the opportunity to deliver high-quality, specialized care to our patients. As an Infusion Nurse, you will play a critical role in administering various intravenous therapies, monitoring patient responses, and providing essential education and support. You will work within a supportive team environment, focused on patient comfort and positive outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Administer intravenous medications, blood products, and other infusion therapies as prescribed by physicians.
- Assess patient health status, including medical history, current symptoms, and vital signs, prior to and during infusion.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and complications during infusions and provide immediate interventions as needed.
- Educate patients and their families on infusion procedures, medication side effects, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and medication administration.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of infusion pumps and other related equipment.
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust patient care plans.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- Provide compassionate and empathetic care, fostering a comfortable and supportive environment for patients.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care setting or direct infusion experience
- Proficiency in venipuncture and central line care
- Strong understanding of various infusion therapies and medication administration protocols
- Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Current BLS certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
- Certification in Infusion Nursing (CRNI®) or Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®)
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems, particularly Epic
- Prior experience in a private clinic or outpatient infusion center setting
