Job Description
TUI Cruises is seeking a highly organized and dynamic Cruise Ship Director for a pivotal land-based role in our Hamburg headquarters. This position is ideal for an experienced professional with a deep understanding of cruise operations and hospitality management, looking to apply their expertise in a strategic, shoreside capacity. The successful candidate will be instrumental in overseeing the operational readiness, guest experience standards, and overall performance coordination for a segment of our fleet from our corporate office. This role requires exceptional leadership, project management skills, and a passion for delivering unparalleled guest satisfaction. Sponsorship is available for qualified international candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of cruise ship operations from a land-based perspective, ensuring alignment with corporate standards and brand vision.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance guest experience, crew performance, and efficiency across assigned vessels.
- Act as a primary liaison between shipboard management teams and various shore-side departments including logistics, technical, entertainment, and HR.
- Monitor and analyze operational KPIs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Lead special projects related to new ship launches, itinerary changes, or service enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations and company policies.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively, optimizing operational costs without compromising service quality.
- Facilitate training programs and continuous professional development for shipboard leadership.
- Participate in emergency response planning and crisis management protocols.
Required Skills
- Proven leadership and management experience, preferably in the cruise or high-end hospitality sector.
- Strong understanding of complex operational logistics and guest service delivery.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in data analysis and strategic planning.
- Advanced problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written).
- High level of organizational and administrative competence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Maritime Operations, or a related field.
- Previous experience as a Cruise Director or in a senior shipboard leadership role.
- Proficiency in German is a significant advantage.
- Experience with international teams and diverse cultural environments.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP).
