Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tow Truck Operator to join our dedicated roadside assistance team in New Port Richey, FL. This is a critical role that involves responding to emergency calls, safely towing vehicles, and providing professional, courteous service to our members and customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will operate modern towing equipment, ensuring safe transport of vehicles, and act as a frontline representative of AAA. This position offers a competitive base salary with additional commission opportunities based on performance and call volume.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate tow trucks and related equipment safely and efficiently to transport disabled vehicles.
- Respond to service calls for breakdowns, accidents, and other roadside emergencies promptly.
- Assess vehicle damage and determine the safest method of towing or recovery.
- Provide excellent customer service, ensuring clear communication and member satisfaction.
- Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed, vehicle information, and payments.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the tow truck interior and exterior.
- Be available for a 24/7 rotating roster, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional tow truck operating experience.
- Proficiency in operating various types of tow trucks (flatbed, wrecker).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgments under pressure.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of local geography and road networks in Pasco County and surrounding areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from a recognized towing and recovery training program.
- Experience with roadside assistance software and dispatch systems.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience in customer service roles.
