Job Description

Arriva UK Bus is offering an incredible opportunity for enthusiastic individuals to become a Trainee Bus Driver in Leicester. No prior bus driving experience is required – we will pay for your full PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicle) licence training! If you’re over 18, have a full UK driving licence (with no more than 6 penalty points), and possess a passion for customer service, we want to hear from you. This is a full-time position that offers comprehensive training, job security, and a chance to join a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive training to obtain your PCV licence and develop excellent driving skills.
- Safely and efficiently operate a bus along designated routes, adhering to timetables.
- Provide exceptional customer service, assisting passengers with inquiries and ensuring a pleasant journey.
- Collect fares and issue tickets using an electronic ticketing machine.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks to ensure safety and report any defects promptly.
- Adhere to all company policies, traffic laws, and health and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean and tidy bus environment.
- Represent Arriva UK Bus professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Must be 18 years of age or older (due to PCV licence regulations).
- Hold a full UK driving licence with a maximum of 6 penalty points.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong commitment to customer service.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new situations.
- A calm and professional demeanour, even in challenging situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
- Basic mechanical knowledge or interest in vehicles.
- Knowledge of the local Leicester area and routes.
