Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Haul Specialist to join our team in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This critical role involves the expert planning, coordination, and execution of transporting oversize and overweight loads across various regions. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of DOT regulations, permitting processes, route surveying, and specialized equipment operation. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe and timely delivery of complex freight, maintaining rigorous safety standards, and providing exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of oversize and overweight load transportation, from initial planning to final delivery.
- Secure necessary permits, escorts, and route surveys in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Develop comprehensive transport plans, including route optimization, bridge clearances, and weight restrictions.
- Interface with drivers, clients, and regulatory agencies to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues.
- Monitor load progress, provide status updates, and proactively address potential delays or challenges.
- Ensure all heavy haul operations adhere to stringent safety protocols and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of all permits, logs, and communication related to each project.
- Evaluate and select appropriate specialized equipment for diverse heavy haul requirements.
- Provide expertise and guidance on complex heavy haul logistics to internal teams and external partners.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in heavy haul logistics, specifically with oversize and overweight loads.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local permitting requirements and transportation regulations (DOT, FMCSA).
- Strong route planning, surveying, and risk assessment abilities.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency with logistics software and mapping tools.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
