Job Description

FedEx Freight is seeking a dedicated and professional Class A Day Cab Driver for local routes based out of our Wesley Chapel, FL service center. This is a full-time position offering consistent work and the opportunity to be home every night. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of freight to various local destinations, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and ensuring compliance with all DOT regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle (day cab) for local freight transportation.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects.
  • Safely load, unload, and secure freight, ensuring proper weight distribution.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local driving regulations, including DOT hours of service.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
  • Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELD) and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries and pickups.
  • Follow company safety procedures and policies at all times.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Clean driving record (MVR) with no serious violations
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
  • Familiarity with local geographical area (Wesley Chapel and surrounding regions)
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations and hours of service
  • Ability to operate electronic logging devices (ELDs)
  • Physical ability to load/unload freight and perform vehicle inspections

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience with LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) freight operations
  • Forklift certification or experience operating pallet jacks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
