Job Description
The Provo City School District is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled High School Orchestra Teacher to inspire and educate students in the art of orchestral music. This full-time position involves leading various orchestral ensembles, preparing students for performances, and developing a comprehensive music curriculum. The ideal candidate will possess strong musical proficiency, excellent pedagogical skills, and a passion for fostering musical talent in young adults. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an engaging curriculum for high school orchestra students.
- Conduct multiple orchestral ensembles, including concert orchestra and chamber groups.
- Prepare students for public performances, competitions, and festivals.
- Select appropriate repertoire that challenges and inspires students.
- Provide individual and group instruction on various orchestral instruments.
- Manage and maintain orchestra equipment and music library.
- Collaborate with other music faculty and school staff on interdisciplinary projects.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration regarding student progress and program activities.
- Attend school events, faculty meetings, and professional development sessions.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field.
- Valid Utah teaching license with an instrumental music endorsement.
- Proficiency in orchestral conducting techniques.
- Expertise in at least one orchestral instrument (strings preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to teach and motivate high school students.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Music Education or a related field.
- Experience teaching high school orchestra.
- Proficiency in multiple orchestral instruments.
- Experience with music technology and composition software.
- Active involvement in professional music education organizations.
