Job Description

GDIT is seeking a dedicated and experienced Records Management Specialist to provide critical support to a federal agency in Madison, Wisconsin. This role focuses on managing and maintaining records, with a specific emphasis on a program or data stream related to ‘Pinterest Records Management’. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with federal records regulations, implement effective records management policies, and support the agency’s information governance objectives. You will be responsible for the lifecycle management of both physical and digital records, ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and security for sensitive federal information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete lifecycle of federal records, from creation and receipt to maintenance and disposition, with a focus on 'Pinterest Records Management' related data.
  • Ensure strict compliance with federal regulations and guidelines, including National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) requirements, FOIA, and Privacy Act.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain records schedules and file plans.
  • Digitize, organize, and index physical records, and manage electronic records within designated systems.
  • Provide guidance and training to agency staff on records management policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits of records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to retention schedules.
  • Assist with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and discovery requests by retrieving and preparing relevant records.
  • Safeguard classified or sensitive information in accordance with federal security protocols.
  • Support the development and implementation of new records management technologies and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in records management, preferably within a federal agency or government contracting environment.
  • Strong understanding of federal records regulations (e.g., NARA, FOIA, Privacy Act).
  • Proficiency with electronic records management systems (ERMS) and document management software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Management, Archival Studies, or a related field.
  • Certification in Records Management (CRM) or equivalent.
  • Experience with records management specific to digital content or social media data streams.
  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain one).
  • Experience with data governance and information architecture principles.
