Job Description
Deloitte is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our dynamic team in Saint John, New Brunswick. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS/ASPE.
- Manage general ledger reconciliations, month-end and year-end close processes.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, and monitor financial performance against these targets.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance to senior management.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and assist in the development and implementation of new financial policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Support tax compliance activities, including preparation of relevant documentation.
- Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance on best practices.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives to improve financial processes and systems.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial accounting.
- Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).
- Proficiency in financial statement preparation, general ledger management, and reconciliations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, advanced formulas).
- Experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Designated Professional Accountant (CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
- Experience in a Big Four accounting firm or a similar large corporate environment.
- Experience with financial modeling and forecasting.
- Familiarity with Canadian tax regulations.
- Experience working with international teams or clients.
