Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Operations Associate to join our FedEx Ground team in Allentown, PA. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth flow of packages through our facility, from unloading and sorting to loading for final delivery. You will work in a fast-paced environment, contributing to our mission of delivering exceptional service to our customers nationwide. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload packages from company vehicles, trailers, and conveyor systems.
- Sort packages manually or with the aid of automated equipment, ensuring correct routing.
- Scan packages and input data into the system accurately.
- Operate various material handling equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks).
- Inspect packages for damage and report any discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and company policies.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve daily operational goals.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift, push, and pull packages weighing up to 75 lbs without assistance.
- Ability to maneuver packages of any weight above 75 lbs with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Basic computer literacy for scanning and data entry.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or package handling environment.
- Experience operating material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
