Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated EA Sports FC Playtest Lead with a strong management focus to join our team in Sunnyvale, CA. In this role, you will be instrumental in overseeing the playtesting operations for our highly anticipated EA Sports FC titles. You will lead and mentor a team of playtesters, design and execute comprehensive playtest plans, and ensure high-quality, actionable feedback is delivered to development teams. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, a deep understanding of game development cycles, and a passion for sports simulation games. Your ability to manage people, processes, and data will be key to the success of our games.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of playtesters, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
  • Design, implement, and refine playtest plans and methodologies for various stages of game development.
  • Oversee the execution of playtest sessions, ensuring adherence to protocols and data collection standards.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative playtest data, identifying key insights, trends, and actionable recommendations.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports and findings to development, design, and production teams.
  • Collaborate closely with game designers, producers, and engineers to understand their feedback needs and integrate playtest results.
  • Manage playtest lab logistics, including scheduling, equipment, and facility setup.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve playtesting processes and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for all playtest-related inquiries for the EA Sports FC franchise.
  • Stay current with industry trends in game development, playtesting, and user research.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in game testing, quality assurance, or user research, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of playtesters or QA analysts.
  • Strong understanding of game development lifecycles and playtesting methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide clear, actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in creating detailed playtest plans, surveys, and bug reports.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated passion for sports video games, particularly soccer/football simulation titles.
  • Experience with bug tracking software (e.g., Jira, TestRail) and data analysis tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Game Design, Computer Science, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Prior experience working on AAA sports titles or other live service games.
  • Familiarity with user research techniques beyond traditional playtesting (e.g., usability studies, focus groups).
  • Experience with A/B testing or other experimental design methodologies.
  • Proficiency in scripting or data visualization tools (e.g., Python, Tableau).
