Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart your career in healthcare? Kaiser Permanente is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals for an Entry-Level Hospital Orderly position. This role is perfect for those with a strong work ethic, a desire to help others, and no prior experience. As an Orderly, you will be a vital part of our patient care team, providing essential support services that ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for our patients and staff. Key Responsibilities
- Transport patients safely and comfortably between various departments (e.g., rooms, diagnostic areas, operating rooms) using wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds.
- Assist nursing staff with repositioning and transferring patients as needed, following proper safety protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient care areas, including rooms, common spaces, and equipment.
- Distribute and collect linens, ensuring adequate supplies are available.
- Transport medical equipment, supplies, and specimens throughout the hospital.
- Respond promptly to patient calls and requests, relaying information to appropriate nursing staff.
- Provide basic comfort and support to patients, adhering to privacy and dignity standards.
- Assist with light clerical duties as directed, such as organizing forms or delivering mail.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations, including infection control practices.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate demeanor.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to perform duties requiring lifting, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.
- Basic understanding of patient privacy (HIPAA) principles.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification (will provide training if not certified).
- Previous experience in a customer service role or any environment requiring direct interaction with the public.
- Familiarity with medical terminology (not required, but a plus).
