Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring professional with a keen interest in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and DevOps methodologies. You will work closely with senior engineers to build, maintain, and optimize our cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines. This role is 100% remote, offering flexibility and the chance to contribute to impactful projects from anywhere in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the deployment, management, and monitoring of applications on Google Cloud Platform.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of software.
- Support the automation of infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
- Help maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Cloud Build.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response activities as part of a team.
- Contribute to documentation of infrastructure, processes, and best practices.
- Learn and apply new technologies and tools relevant to DevOps and GCP.
- Ensure security best practices are followed in all infrastructure and application deployments.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of Linux operating systems and shell scripting.
- Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java).
- Basic knowledge of cloud computing concepts, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Understanding of version control systems, especially Git.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Entry-level experience with GCP services (e.g., Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage).
- Exposure to infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.
- Understanding of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and concepts.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer).
