Job Description

We are seeking an exceptionally talented and highly motivated Senior Medicinal Chemist to join our drug discovery team in Dallas. This pivotal leadership role will drive innovative medicinal chemistry strategies and lead project teams from hit identification through lead optimization, contributing significantly to our pipeline of life-changing therapeutics. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record in synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry, a strong publication record, and a passion for mentoring and guiding junior scientists. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of medicinal chemists, providing scientific direction and mentorship.
  • Design and synthesize novel small molecules for various therapeutic targets, with a focus on optimizing potency, selectivity, pharmacokinetics, and ADME properties.
  • Formulate and execute comprehensive medicinal chemistry strategies from hit-to-lead and lead optimization.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with biologists, pharmacologists, computational chemists, and ADME scientists to advance drug discovery programs.
  • Interpret complex SAR data and propose new synthetic targets and strategies.
  • Present research findings effectively to internal teams and external scientific communities.
  • Stay current with scientific literature and new technologies in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery.
  • Contribute to patent applications and scientific publications.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in drug discovery in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of mentoring and developing junior scientists.
  • Expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, reaction mechanism, and modern analytical techniques.
  • Strong understanding of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postdoctoral experience in medicinal chemistry.
  • Experience in specific therapeutic areas such as oncology, immunology, or neuroscience.
  • Proficiency with cheminformatics tools and computational chemistry applications.
  • Experience managing external research collaborations (CROs).
