Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Theatre Porter to join our surgical support team in Paddington. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our surgical suites. You will be responsible for the movement of patients, equipment, and supplies, playing a crucial part in the patient journey and maintaining the high standards of our theatre environments. Full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided and mandatory training will be given to ensure your safety and the safety of our patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients between wards, theatres, and recovery areas, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
  • Move and position specialized surgical equipment, trolleys, and supplies within the theatre department.
  • Assist surgical staff with the preparation and turnaround of operating theatres between procedures.
  • Manage and transport clean and soiled linen, waste, and laboratory specimens.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within theatre corridors, storage areas, and changing rooms.
  • Respond promptly to requests from clinical staff and other departments.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety guidelines, infection control policies, and the correct use of provided PPE.
  • Provide compassionate and supportive communication to patients and their families.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
