Job Description

CCRTA is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Paratransit Drivers. This role is focused on providing essential transportation services to our community members who have disabilities or special needs, enabling them to maintain their independence and access vital services. We are looking for individuals with a strong community support mindset who are eager to learn and grow, as comprehensive training will be provided. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate paratransit vehicles safely and efficiently on assigned routes, adhering to schedules.
  • Assist passengers, including those using wheelchairs or other mobility devices, with boarding, securing, and alighting the vehicle.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects or maintenance needs.
  • Maintain accurate passenger logs and manifest information.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and passengers regarding schedule changes or issues.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
  • Participate actively in all required training programs, including defensive driving, first aid, and customer service.

Required Skills

  • Valid Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
  • Strong commitment to safety and passenger well-being.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an empathetic approach.
  • Ability to lift and secure wheelchairs and assist passengers as needed (up to 50 lbs).
  • Patience and ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in a customer service role.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger endorsement (not required for all vehicles, but a strong plus).
