Job Description
We are seeking an innovative and dedicated Adhesives Chemist with a strong focus on product development to join our dynamic R&D team in Newark, NJ. In this role, you will be responsible for the research, development, and optimization of cutting-edge adhesive formulations, driving new product introductions from concept to commercialization. Key Responsibilities
- Design, synthesize, and formulate novel adhesive products for specific application requirements.
- Conduct comprehensive laboratory experiments, including material characterization, performance testing, and analytical analysis.
- Interpret complex data, draw conclusions, and propose innovative solutions for product improvements or new developments.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and sales, to ensure successful product launches.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of experimental procedures, results, and analyses.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements in the laboratory and production environments.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes in adhesive chemistry.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in adhesive formulation, development, or polymer synthesis.
- Strong theoretical and practical understanding of polymer chemistry and material science.
- Proficiency in various laboratory techniques and analytical instrumentation relevant to adhesives (e.g., rheology, DSC, TGA, FTIR, mechanical testing).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced R&D environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Experience with specific adhesive technologies such as epoxies, urethanes, acrylics, hot melts, or pressure-sensitive adhesives.
- Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and product development methodologies.
- Prior experience working in an industrial R&D setting, preferably in chemical manufacturing.
