Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Auto Upholstery Tear-Out Laborer to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for preparing vehicles for upholstery repair or replacement by carefully removing existing interior components. This is a hands-on position that requires attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced automotive repair environment. No prior upholstery experience is necessary, as we are prepared to train the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently remove damaged or old upholstery components, including seats, door panels, headliners, and carpets, from vehicles.
  • Carefully prepare vehicle interiors for subsequent repair or new upholstery installation, ensuring all debris and fasteners are removed.
  • Inspect removed parts and vehicle interior for any hidden damage or additional issues, reporting findings to senior technicians.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, disposing of waste materials properly.
  • Assist senior upholstery technicians and other shop personnel with various tasks as needed.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Utilize appropriate hand and power tools with precision and care.

Required Skills

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to safely and effectively use various hand and power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in an automotive shop, production, or general labor role.
  • Basic knowledge of different vehicle makes and models.
