Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Brewing Chemist to join our innovative team in Rosslyn, VA. This role is central to ensuring the highest quality, consistency, and safety of our diverse beverage portfolio, with a specific focus on brewing science. The successful candidate will be instrumental in conducting advanced chemical analyses, supporting new product development, optimizing existing processes, and contributing to our fun and collaborative work culture. You will work closely with R&D, production, and quality assurance teams, leveraging your expertise to maintain our reputation for excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and advanced chemical analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished beverage products.
- Develop and validate new analytical methods to support R&D initiatives and quality control improvements.
- Monitor and interpret analytical data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and ensure product specifications are met.
- Contribute to the research and development of new beverage formulations and brewing processes.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring adherence to GLP and ISO standards.
- Prepare detailed reports on findings, communicate results to cross-functional teams, and provide recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, internal quality standards, and environmental guidelines.
Required Skills
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, spectrophotometry).
- Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and statistical analysis software.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with brewing processes and beverage chemistry.
- Ability to interpret complex scientific data and present findings clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Food Science, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Experience with sensory evaluation techniques for beverages.
- Knowledge of fermentation science and microbiology.
- Certifications in quality assurance or laboratory management.
- Previous experience in a commercial brewing or large-scale beverage manufacturing environment.
