Job Description
The Department of Chemistry at California State University, San Bernardino – Victorville Campus invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Chemistry Faculty/Lecturer position. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated educator who is passionate about teaching chemistry at the undergraduate level and engaging in scholarly activities. The successful candidate will contribute to a vibrant academic community, teach a variety of chemistry courses, advise students, and participate in departmental and university service. This position offers the opportunity to shape the future of our chemistry program and make a lasting impact on our students.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and teach undergraduate chemistry courses, including general chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, and biochemistry.
- Design and implement effective laboratory experiments and supervise student lab work.
- Hold regular office hours and provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including research, grant writing, and presentations at professional conferences.
- Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and program review.
- Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
- Contribute to the intellectual and professional life of the university and the broader community.
- Maintain a safe and effective learning environment in both classroom and laboratory settings.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated excellence in university-level teaching.
- Strong commitment to undergraduate education and student success.
- Ability to teach a broad range of chemistry topics.
- Experience with diverse student populations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Record of scholarly activity or potential for developing an active research program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-doctoral research experience.
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms and instructional technology.
- Experience mentoring undergraduate research students.
- Proven ability to secure external grant funding.
- Experience with academic advising.
- Proficiency in instrumentation relevant to general and specialized chemistry courses.
