Job Description
Join the City of Brantford’s Public Works team as a Street Sweeper Operator! We are seeking dedicated individuals ready for early starts to ensure our city streets are clean and well-maintained. Key Responsibilities
- Operate street sweeping equipment safely and efficiently on designated routes.
- Perform pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and report any mechanical issues or defects promptly.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and city policies.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including routes, hours, and materials collected.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding operational status and challenges.
- Ensure the cleanliness of streets, gutters, and public areas, removing debris and waste.
- Assist with other public works duties as required, particularly during off-season or inclement weather.
Required Skills
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and vehicle-mounted equipment.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures related to vehicle operation and public works.
- Excellent spatial awareness and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical fitness to perform duties that may involve lifting, bending, and prolonged sitting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience operating street sweepers or similar heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of Brantford's streets and neighborhoods.
- Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment troubleshooting.
- Ontario Class DZ driver's license.
