Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Clamp Truck Operator with a specialized equipment focus to join our team in Midtown, Tallahassee. In this critical role, you will be responsible for operating various types of clamp trucks to efficiently move, stack, and retrieve freight within our busy distribution center. Your expertise in handling diverse cargo with precision and care will be essential to maintaining our operational flow and ensuring timely delivery of goods. This position requires a strong commitment to safety protocols and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate clamp trucks and other specialized material handling equipment to load, unload, stack, and move products and materials.
- Perform daily pre-operation inspections of equipment and complete necessary documentation, reporting any defects or malfunctions.
- Handle a variety of freight types, including those requiring specific clamp attachments and careful maneuvering.
- Accurately pick, stage, and organize materials according to inventory management systems and shipping schedules.
- Ensure all loads are secure and properly positioned to prevent damage or accidents during transit and storage.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety guidelines and company policies.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimize workflow and resolve operational issues.
- Participate in ongoing training and safety refreshers as required.
Required Skills
- Minimum 1 year (12 months) of verifiable experience operating clamp trucks or similar specialized material handling equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of warehouse operations, safety procedures, and material handling best practices.
- Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance checks and identify potential mechanical issues.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling inventory.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in clamp truck operation or other relevant material handling equipment.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Familiarity with LTL freight handling processes.
- Proven track record of safe work practices and adherence to regulations.
