Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and innovative Cosmetic Chemist to join our Skincare & Beauty Research & Development team. In this role, you will be instrumental in the formulation, development, and testing of cutting-edge skincare and beauty products for our trendy and dynamic brands. You will work within a fast-paced environment, contributing to the creation of high-performance, safe, and consumer-loved products from concept to launch. This is an exciting opportunity for a chemist with a strong understanding of cosmetic science, raw materials, and formulation techniques to make a significant impact on our product pipeline and market presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate, develop, and optimize new and existing skincare and beauty products (e.g., serums, moisturizers, cleansers, masks, color cosmetics) from bench to pilot scale.
  • Conduct stability testing, performance evaluation, and safety assessments on new formulations and raw materials.
  • Source, evaluate, and qualify novel raw materials, active ingredients, and innovative technologies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Marketing, Product Development, Regulatory, and Manufacturing teams to ensure product concepts align with market trends and company standards.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, adhering to strict timelines and quality standards.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, maintain accurate lab notebooks, and document all experimental procedures and results.
  • Stay current with industry trends, scientific advancements, and regulatory guidelines in cosmetic science.
  • Troubleshoot formulation issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Participate in sensory evaluation and consumer testing to gather feedback and refine products.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or a related scientific field.
  • 3+ years of experience in cosmetic formulation and product development within the skincare or beauty industry.
  • Strong knowledge of cosmetic raw materials, active ingredients, and their functionality.
  • Proficiency in formulation development techniques, including emulsion technology, solvency, and rheology.
  • Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and GLP (Good Laboratory Practices).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Cosmetic Science or a related field.
  • Experience with advanced analytical techniques relevant to cosmetic products (e.g., HPLC, GC, FTIR).
  • Understanding of scale-up processes from lab to manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with global cosmetic regulations (e.g., FDA, EU, ASEAN).
  • Proven track record of developing and launching successful beauty products.
