Job Description

Are you a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse with a passion for travel and adventure? Royal Caribbean International is seeking dedicated Cruise Ship Nurses to join our onboard medical teams. This unique opportunity allows you to provide high-quality healthcare to our diverse community of guests and crew members while exploring incredible international destinations. You will be an integral part of our health services department, ensuring the safety and wellness of everyone on board. Room and board are provided as part of this exciting international travel role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation, within the scope of practice.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, including trauma, cardiac events, and other acute conditions.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the ship's Senior Doctor or medical protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records, ensuring compliance with company and international health regulations.
  • Assist with routine medical screenings, vaccinations, and health promotion activities for crew members.
  • Collaborate with the medical team to ensure continuous quality improvement in healthcare delivery.
  • Manage medical supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and proper functioning.
  • Provide health education and counseling to patients as needed.
  • Adhere to strict infection control policies and procedures.

Required Skills

  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-registration clinical experience in an acute care setting (e.g., Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, or Critical Care).
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Proficiency in conducting thorough patient assessments and implementing appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound clinical judgments in a fast-paced, often high-pressure environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Ability to adapt to living and working in a multicultural, confined environment for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Additional certifications such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).
  • Previous experience working on a cruise ship or in remote/isolated medical settings.
  • Experience with international health regulations and maritime medical guidelines.
  • Proficiency in additional languages (e.g., Spanish, German, French).
