Job Description

Deloitte is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Privacy Officer to join our dynamic team in Taunton. This critical role involves leading our efforts to ensure comprehensive compliance with global data protection regulations, specifically GDPR and CCPA. As a Data Privacy Officer, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring our data privacy strategy. You will work closely with various departments, providing expert guidance and ensuring that our data processing activities align with legal requirements and best practices. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure continuous compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable data protection laws and regulations across all business operations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust data protection policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and privacy audits to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for supervisory authorities and respond to data subject access requests, rectification requests, and other privacy inquiries.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on all data privacy matters, including new projects, products, and services.
  • Manage and investigate data breach incidents, ensuring timely reporting and effective remediation.
  • Design and deliver engaging data privacy training and awareness programs for employees at all levels.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in data privacy laws and regulatory guidance and proactively adapt internal practices.
  • Collaborate with legal, IT, security, and other relevant teams to integrate privacy by design principles.

Required Skills

  • Extensive and demonstrable knowledge of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act).
  • Proven track record in a dedicated data privacy or data protection role within a complex organizational environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with an ability to interpret and apply complex legal frameworks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex privacy concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into practical, actionable business solutions.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A legal background or a degree in Law, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with international data transfer mechanisms (e.g., SCCs, Binding Corporate Rules).
  • Proven project management experience, particularly in leading data privacy initiatives or compliance projects.
  • Familiarity with other global privacy regulations (e.g., LGPD, PIPL) would be a significant advantage.
