Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Sales & Marketing to lead our commercial efforts and drive revenue growth for The Grand Hotel Birmingham. This pivotal role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in the luxury hospitality sector, capable of developing and executing comprehensive sales and marketing strategies. The successful candidate will be instrumental in enhancing our brand presence, attracting new business, and ensuring the hotel maintains its position as a market leader. This position includes visa sponsorship for eligible candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic sales and marketing plans to achieve hotel revenue goals and market share objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing sales and marketing team.
  • Identify new business opportunities and cultivate strong relationships with key clients, corporate accounts, and travel agencies.
  • Oversee all aspects of the hotel's marketing, including digital marketing, public relations, and brand communications.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to adapt strategies and maximize revenue.
  • Manage the sales and marketing budget effectively, ensuring optimal return on investment.
  • Collaborate closely with other department heads, particularly Revenue Management and Operations, to ensure alignment and seamless guest experiences.
  • Represent the hotel at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions.
  • Prepare and present regular performance reports and forecasts to the General Manager and ownership.
  • Ensure all sales and marketing activities comply with brand standards and ethical business practices.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in hotel sales and marketing, with at least 2 years at a Director level.
  • Demonstrable experience in the luxury or upscale hotel segment.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in sales force automation and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Deep understanding of digital marketing trends and strategies within hospitality.
  • Proven ability to drive revenue and achieve sales targets.
  • Strategic planning and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • Experience working with international markets and diverse client bases.
  • Existing network of corporate and leisure clients in the UK and European markets.
  • Experience in a newly renovated or rebranded luxury property.
  • Fluency in additional languages.
