Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Executive Roadway Specialist with a strong focus on high mileage infrastructure to join our dynamic team in Pittsburgh. This pivotal role involves overseeing the strategic planning, design, and implementation of roadway projects, with a particular emphasis on optimizing long-term performance, durability, and cost-efficiency for heavily trafficked routes. The successful candidate will leverage deep technical expertise and strong leadership skills to manage complex projects, mentor junior staff, and ensure project delivery aligns with AECOM’s high standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic planning and design phases for major roadway projects, ensuring alignment with client objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement innovative solutions for high-mileage road networks, focusing on material science, pavement longevity, and traffic management systems.
- Conduct comprehensive feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses for proposed roadway improvements.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources effectively, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, environmental specialists, and urban planners.
- Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project staff.
- Engage with stakeholders, including government agencies, community groups, and contractors, to foster strong working relationships.
- Oversee the preparation of detailed engineering reports, specifications, and construction documents.
- Ensure all projects comply with relevant local, state, and federal transportation standards and safety regulations.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to proposal development and client acquisition strategies.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in roadway design, construction, or infrastructure management.
- Proven expertise in high-mileage pavement design, rehabilitation, and maintenance strategies.
- Strong proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, HEC-RAS).
- Excellent understanding of relevant transportation engineering principles, standards, and best practices (e.g., AASHTO, FHWA).
- Demonstrated project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and team leadership.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and smart city initiatives.
- Familiarity with public-private partnerships (PPPs) in infrastructure development.
- Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) or specialized transportation areas.
