Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine laboratory maintenance, including cleaning glassware, sterilizing equipment, and organizing lab spaces.
- Manage inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables; place orders as needed to ensure continuous operation.
- Receive, unpack, and stock incoming shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders.
- Prepare common laboratory solutions and media under supervision.
- Assist scientists with basic experimental setups and procedures as directed.
- Maintain accurate records of supplies, equipment calibration, and inventory levels.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and proper disposal of laboratory waste.
- Operate and maintain basic lab equipment, performing minor troubleshooting when necessary.
- Support overall lab operations to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient working environment.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree in a scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry) preferred but not required for entry-level.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently as well as part of a team.
- Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to lift and move laboratory supplies and equipment (up to 25 lbs).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a laboratory setting (academic or industrial) through coursework or volunteer work is a plus.
- Familiarity with laboratory safety procedures and good laboratory practices (GLP).
- Experience with inventory management systems.
