Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine laboratory maintenance, including cleaning glassware, sterilizing equipment, and organizing lab spaces.
  • Manage inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables; place orders as needed to ensure continuous operation.
  • Receive, unpack, and stock incoming shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders.
  • Prepare common laboratory solutions and media under supervision.
  • Assist scientists with basic experimental setups and procedures as directed.
  • Maintain accurate records of supplies, equipment calibration, and inventory levels.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and proper disposal of laboratory waste.
  • Operate and maintain basic lab equipment, performing minor troubleshooting when necessary.
  • Support overall lab operations to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient working environment.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree in a scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry) preferred but not required for entry-level.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to lift and move laboratory supplies and equipment (up to 25 lbs).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting (academic or industrial) through coursework or volunteer work is a plus.
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety procedures and good laboratory practices (GLP).
  • Experience with inventory management systems.
