Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled GSE (Ground Support Equipment) Technician to join our team at the Plano airport location. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of ground support equipment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our airport logistics. This includes preventative maintenance, scheduled repairs, and emergency breakdown responses to keep our fleet operational and compliant with all safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on ground support equipment, including forklifts, tugs, belt loaders, pushback tractors, and other motorized and non-motorized equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems issues.
- Conduct repairs and replacements of faulty components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and electrical circuits.
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks as required for equipment repair and modification.
- Maintain accurate service records, documenting all maintenance and repair activities.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FAA, OSHA).
- Order and manage parts inventory, ensuring necessary components are available for repairs.
- Respond to service calls and emergency breakdowns promptly to minimize operational disruptions.
- Collaborate with airport operations staff to coordinate equipment availability and maintenance schedules.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy equipment, automotive, or GSE maintenance and repair.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with diesel and gasoline engines.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain an airport SIDA badge.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced airport environment.
- Basic computer proficiency for record-keeping and diagnostic tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASE certification (Automotive Service Excellence) in heavy truck or equipment.
- Experience with specific airport ground support equipment brands.
- Technical degree or certification in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment repair.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Forklift certification.
