Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Food Processing Manager to oversee all aspects of our state-of-the-art processing facility in Silverwater, NSW. This pivotal role requires a strong leader with a deep understanding of food safety, operational efficiency, and team management within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring production targets are met, quality standards are upheld, and continuous improvement initiatives are implemented. Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the food processing plant, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
- Implement and enforce strict food safety and quality assurance programs (HACCP, ISO, BRCGS).
- Optimize production processes to reduce waste and improve yields.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of production staff, supervisors, and technicians.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and food regulations.
- Prepare and manage operational budgets, control costs, and analyze performance metrics.
- Collaborate with supply chain, maintenance, and quality departments to achieve organizational goals.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement lean manufacturing principles.
- Report on production performance, challenges, and successes to senior management.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in food processing management.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and quality systems (HACCP, GMP, BRCGS).
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate large teams in a manufacturing setting.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in production planning, budgeting, and performance analysis.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Food Science, Production Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automated food processing equipment and systems.
- Project management certification or experience.
- Familiarity with Australian food industry standards and regulations.
- Advanced HACCP or food safety certifications.
- Proficiency in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
