Job Description

The Florida Museum of Natural History is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Pasco County Field Lab as a Fossil Lab Technician. This is a unique opportunity for someone passionate about paleontology, offering comprehensive training in precision tools and techniques essential for fossil preparation and conservation. Key Responsibilities
- Carefully clean, prepare, and stabilize fossil specimens using a variety of precision tools, under direct supervision.
- Learn and apply advanced techniques for fossil repair, reconstruction, and molding/casting.
- Maintain detailed records of specimen preparation, including methods used, materials, and condition reports.
- Assist paleontologists and researchers with specimen photography and documentation for research and exhibits.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
- Adhere strictly to all laboratory safety protocols and conservation best practices.
- Manage and organize laboratory supplies and specimens.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development related to paleontological preparation.
- Contribute to the overall organization and upkeep of the Pasco County Field Lab.
