Job Description
The Town of Tantramar is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented individual to join our City Park Maintenance team as a Fountain Penny Collector & Cleaner. This unique part-time role is crucial for maintaining the aesthetic appeal and proper functioning of our beloved public fountains. The successful candidate will be responsible for the regular collection of coins from fountain basins, ensuring the cleanliness of the water features, and performing light maintenance tasks to keep our city parks sparkling. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has an eye for cleanliness, and takes pride in contributing to the beauty of our community spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Regularly collect coins and other debris from public fountain basins across various city parks.
- Inspect fountains for cleanliness, algae build-up, and potential blockages.
- Clean fountain surfaces, statuary, and surrounding areas to maintain pristine appearance.
- Report any significant damage, malfunctions, or safety hazards immediately to the Park Supervisor.
- Safely handle and transport collected items to designated secure locations.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental guidelines during work.
- Maintain a polite and professional demeanor when interacting with park visitors.
Required Skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness.
- Physical ability to perform tasks involving bending, lifting (up to 20 lbs), and prolonged standing/walking outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in park maintenance, cleaning, or a similar outdoor role.
- Familiarity with the parks and recreational areas of Tantramar.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation (though not strictly required, may be beneficial).
