Job Description
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and enthusiastic Game Tester with a passion for high-speed action and fast-paced environments to join our Quality Assurance team in Escondido, CA. As a Game Tester specializing in ‘High Speed Environment, Subito,’ you will be instrumental in ensuring the flawless performance, stability, and playability of our upcoming titles, focusing specifically on elements requiring rapid reflexes, quick decision-making, and seamless transitions. You will be responsible for identifying, documenting, and verifying bugs, glitches, and design flaws in highly dynamic gameplay sequences. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines in a rapid development cycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute test plans and test cases for designated game features, with a particular focus on high-speed gameplay, vehicle dynamics, combat systems, and environmental interactions.
- Identify, analyze, and accurately document software defects using our bug tracking system, providing clear and concise reproduction steps, screenshots, and video captures.
- Perform regression testing to verify bug fixes and ensure the stability of the game following updates and new feature implementations.
- Collaborate closely with development teams (designers, programmers, artists) to provide timely and constructive feedback on game mechanics and performance.
- Participate in daily stand-up meetings and provide status updates on testing progress and critical issues.
- Proactively seek out edge cases and potential exploits within high-speed game environments.
- Contribute to the improvement of QA processes and best practices.
Required Skills
- Proven passion for video games, especially high-speed action, racing, or combat-oriented genres.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills to identify subtle defects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear bug reporting and team collaboration.
- Ability to follow complex instructions and test plans rigorously.
- Proficiency with various gaming platforms (PC, Console).
- Basic understanding of game development cycles and QA methodologies.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Quality Assurance role within the video game industry.
- Familiarity with bug tracking software (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla).
- Experience with different game engines and development tools.
- Knowledge of scripting languages or technical troubleshooting skills.
- A portfolio of documented bugs or testing experience (personal projects are acceptable).
