Job Description
Sobeys in Summerside is looking for enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team as Grocery Clerks/Stockers. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for those looking to start a career in retail with immediate availability. No prior experience is required – we provide comprehensive training! You will play a vital role in ensuring our shelves are well-stocked, our store is clean and organized, and our customers have a pleasant shopping experience. Key Responsibilities
- Receive and unload daily shipments, ensuring accuracy and proper handling of products.
- Stock shelves, displays, and coolers with merchandise, following planograms and rotation guidelines.
- Maintain organized and clean backroom and storage areas.
- Assist customers with locating products and provide friendly, helpful service.
- Ensure product freshness by checking expiration dates and rotating stock.
- Operate various equipment safely, such as pallet jacks and hand trucks (training provided).
- Assist with inventory counts and loss prevention efforts.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy items regularly.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred, but not required for immediate start).
- Prior experience in a customer service or retail environment is a plus, but not mandatory.
