Job Description

UPS is seeking an experienced and dynamic Distribution Center Manager to lead operations at our Macon, GA facility. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of distribution center functions, including inbound and outbound logistics, inventory management, safety, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will be a results-oriented leader with a strong background in logistics and supply chain management, dedicated to driving operational excellence and fostering a high-performance culture. Relocation assistance is supported for qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily distribution center operations, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and adherence to company standards.
  • Manage inbound and outbound logistics, inventory control, and order fulfillment processes.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor operational strategies to optimize performance and reduce costs.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of supervisors and distribution center associates, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
  • Analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless coordination and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage budget, resources, and equipment maintenance within the distribution center.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in distribution or logistics management.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and hazmat handling.
