Job Description
Are you passionate about helping others and looking for a rewarding career in healthcare? UR Medicine Home Care is seeking dedicated and compassionate Home Health Aides (HHAs) to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who have a high school diploma or GED and are eager to start a career in healthcare without prior experience. We provide comprehensive training to equip you with the skills needed to provide exceptional care to our patients. As an HHA, you will play a crucial role in assisting patients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort, and promoting a safe home environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Help with ambulation and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks relevant to the patient's immediate environment.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed.
- Monitor and report changes in patient's health status or behavior to supervisory staff.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment for patients.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED (mandatory)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
- Reliability and punctuality
- Physical ability to assist with patient mobility and household tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid New York State Driver's License and reliable transportation
- Previous volunteer experience in a caregiving role
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
