Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Hospital Admitting Nurse to join our administrative and clinical team. This role is crucial for ensuring a smooth and efficient admission process for all patients, combining essential administrative tasks with vital clinical assessment skills. The successful candidate will be the first clinical point of contact for many patients, playing a key role in their initial experience at our facility. This position requires strong communication skills, a compassionate approach, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial patient assessments, including vital signs and basic health history upon admission.
- Accurately complete all necessary admission paperwork and electronic documentation.
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and consent forms.
- Educate patients and families on hospital policies, procedures, and their rights.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other departments to ensure seamless patient transitions.
- Identify and address any immediate patient needs or concerns during the admission process.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.
- Provide empathetic support to patients and their families during what can be a stressful time.
- Assist with bed assignments and patient flow logistics as needed.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Current RN license in Nevada.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to perform basic clinical assessments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and hospital admission protocols.
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Previous experience in hospital admissions or emergency department settings.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Bilingual skills (especially Spanish).
