Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Hospital Concierge Porter to join our VIP Guest Management team at Nuffield Health York Hospital. This pivotal role is more than just a porter position; it’s about providing an elevated level of service and personal care to our VIP patients and their families. You will be the first point of contact for many, ensuring a seamless and comfortable experience from arrival to departure. Your compassionate approach, attention to detail, and ability to anticipate needs will be crucial in upholding our standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet and welcome VIP patients and their families upon arrival, providing a personalised check-in experience.
  • Safely and discreetly escort patients to their rooms, treatment areas, or other hospital locations.
  • Assist with luggage and personal belongings, ensuring secure handling and transport.
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to patient and family requests, coordinating with various hospital departments as needed.
  • Provide information and directions, helping navigate the hospital facilities.
  • Maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality at all times, respecting patient privacy.
  • Proactively identify and address any comfort or amenity needs for VIP guests.
  • Manage parking and transport logistics for VIP arrivals and departures.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and presentation of concierge and VIP waiting areas.
  • Provide support to nursing and medical staff with patient transfers and mobility as required, adhering to all health and safety protocols.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a customer service or hospitality role, ideally within a premium environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a polite and professional demeanour.
  • High level of empathy and discretion, with a strong understanding of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
  • Good physical stamina to perform porter duties, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic IT literacy for record-keeping and communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare, or luxury hotel environment.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Proficiency in additional languages.
