Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Hospital Logistics Operative to join our dynamic team at our Distribution Centre in Plymouth, Devon. This crucial role involves managing the movement, storage, and distribution of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to hospitals and healthcare facilities. You will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of the supply chain, directly impacting patient care across the region. This position requires strong attention to detail, physical dexterity, and a commitment to working within strict safety and quality guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, and inspect incoming goods, verifying against purchase orders and reporting discrepancies.
  • Accurately pick and pack medical supplies and equipment for outbound deliveries to various healthcare facilities.
  • Organise and store inventory in designated locations, ensuring proper stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO) and efficient space utilisation.
  • Operate warehouse equipment, such as pallet trucks or forklift trucks (if certified), safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and assist with inventory management and reconciliation tasks.
  • Prepare dispatch documentation and ensure all outgoing shipments are correctly labelled and secured.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the distribution centre.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding stock levels, issues, or delays.

Required Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing goods and documentation.
  • Ability to perform manual handling tasks, including lifting and moving items up to 25kg, for extended periods.
  • Basic computer literacy for data entry and inventory systems.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution centre role.
  • Forklift Truck (FLT) license (Reach or Counterbalance).
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures in a warehouse setting.
  • Experience with inventory management software or systems.
