Job Description
XPO Logistics is seeking experienced and dedicated Independent Drayage Drivers to partner with us for port and rail logistics operations in the Grand Prairie, Texas area. As an independent contractor, you will leverage your expertise to manage the timely and efficient transportation of containers between ports, rail yards, and customer locations. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport containers between ports, rail yards, and customer facilities.
- Manage daily routes and schedules to ensure on-time pick-ups and deliveries.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of truck and trailer, ensuring all equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery receipts, and all necessary documentation.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including FMCSA and DOT guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other stakeholders regarding load status and any potential issues.
- Manage personal business operations, including fuel, maintenance, and compliance.
- Ensure secure loading and unloading of cargo, following all safety protocols.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable Class A CDL driving experience
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no serious violations in the past 3-5 years
- Current Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or ability to obtain one
- Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) endorsement preferred, or willingness to obtain
- Strong understanding of DOT, FMCSA, and port/rail regulations
- Proven ability to manage time effectively and work independently
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with drayage operations or intermodal freight.
- Familiarity with local port and rail facilities in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.
- Possession of own truck (tractor) that meets current DOT safety regulations.
- Business acumen for managing an independent contracting operation.
